Texas Instruments to acquire Silicon Labs, expanding embedded wireless portfolio
Texas Instruments (TI) has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Silicon Labs in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $7.5 billion.
The deal combines Silicon Labs’ expertise in embedded wireless connectivity with TI’s leading analogue and embedded processing portfolio, creating a global leader in connected device solutions.
While the announcement primarily highlights market reach, manufacturing scale, and portfolio expansion, it also has potential implications for advanced packaging.
Many wireless and IoT devices rely on system-in-package (SiP) designs and multi-die modules, and the integration of Silicon Labs’ products into TI’s internally owned 28 nm fabs and assembly/test capabilities could accelerate the adoption of advanced packaging solutions across TI’s expanded portfolio.
TI expects the acquisition to generate approximately $450 million in annual manufacturing and operational synergies within three years, further strengthening its ability to deliver cost-efficient, high-performance semiconductor solutions globally.
