Cadence brings AI to advanced packaging

News

Cadence has introduced AuraStack AI Super Agent, extending agentic AI capabilities to PCB and advanced chip packaging design to help accelerate system development and improve engineering productivity.

Cadence Design Systems has launched AuraStack AI Super Agent, a new agentic AI platform designed to streamline PCB and advanced chip packaging workflows as system complexity continues to increase in AI and high-performance computing applications.

Built on the company's Allegro AI Studio platform, AuraStack is designed to coordinate engineering tasks across electrical, thermal, and mechanical domains, enabling designers to optimize PCB and package development from early planning through implementation and multiphysics analysis.

The platform extends Cadence's AI portfolio beyond silicon design and verification, targeting the growing challenges associated with multi-die packages, chiplets, high-speed interconnects, and increasingly demanding power delivery and thermal requirements.

Rather than treating PCB layout, signal integrity, thermal analysis, and mechanical validation as separate stages, AuraStack maintains a unified design context, allowing engineering teams to evaluate trade-offs throughout the development process.

According to Cadence, this approach can help identify design issues earlier, reduce costly design iterations, and accelerate time-to-market.

The company claims the platform can reduce development time by up to two times while increasing engineering productivity by as much as 15 times through AI-assisted automation and multiphysics optimization.

Early customer collaborations include NVIDIA, TSMC, Schneider Electric, Socionext, and Forvia Hella, with Forvia Hella reporting that an AI-assisted component placement task was reduced from four days to approximately four minutes.

As advanced packaging continues to evolve, AI-driven design tools are becoming increasingly important for managing the complexity of heterogeneous integration, chiplet architectures, and PCB-package co-design.

AuraStack reflects the industry's growing focus on using AI to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering workflows and accelerate the development of next-generation semiconductor systems.
